I love the calm before a storm. On Tuesday night we enjoyed the peace and calm as we awaited the arrival of some crazy storms. It was fairly warm outside which is very strange for January in Kentucky. HPK and I rolled the windows down and opened the sunroof and drove around and enjoyed the breeze. It felt great!
When I was growing up we had an amazing view of the Great Smoky Mountains from our back porch. I remember sitting on our back deck with my parents watching for storms to roll in just enjoying the stillness, dark clouds, rolling thunder and wind. It was one of our favorite things to do.
The clouds and the colors of the sky were so pretty on Tuesday.
It seemed like within seconds the sunlight began to fade, heavy clouds came in and the sky began to get dark.
Then came the CRAZINESS! It lasted all night. We were up until 4 am waiting out these storms. I slept on the couch downstairs and HPK slept next to me on his bean bag chair. Our weather alert went of at least every hour until 4 am. We were under tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings. Luckily we didn't have any damage other than our yard toys being scattered across the neighborhood. Some people very close by weren't as fortunate.
This tree is right in front of my brothers house. An EF-2 tornado touched down just about 20 minutes away from where he lives. This could have done some major damage, had it landed on someone's home.
I want a basement.
