I Am A Morning Hider

I'm a morning hider.   If you knock on my door before noon,  I'll hide from you.  It's not that I'm afraid of who's behind the door, it's more like I'm not ready to face the world until after lunch.   I hide from UPS drivers.  I hide from Fed Ex.  I hide from the mailman.   I don't answer the phone until after lunch.  If you see me at Walmart in the early morning hours, I'll duck behind the next aisle.  Why do I hide?  Number one reason, I'm not a morning person.  I don't like to chit chat in the mornings.  Most mornings I'm not even out of bed until 9 am.  If I am out and about in the mornings (which is extremely rare), you can bet that I don't want to be.  I will be wearing sweat pants, t-shirt, dirty hair and a ball hat.  I DON'T want to scare anyone.  And, I will tell you that I'm usually not dressed with full hair and makeup before noon.

I don't have the energy to communicate with the outside world in the mornings.
Don't take it personally.
Even when had a regular everyday job, I would go into work at around 8 or 8:30 and do all of my busy work and paper work at my desk until lunch time.  After lunch I would greet my co-workers and be their best friend, but I didn't like to talk to my co-workers until after lunch and they knew it.

And for some reason the weirdest things always happen to me when I answer my door in the mornings.  No joke.  The Fed Ex man tried to hit on me and I seriously thought he was going to ask me out one morning when when I went to the door at my apartment.  I was wearing cut off sweat pant shorts and an over sized t-shirt.  What was he thinking?   I've had kids knock on my door asking for popsicles at 9 am.  I am like WHAT?!?  Get your own popsicles from your own house!  Who lets their kids do that?  I  had a neighbor who tried to force her way into my house to look at the remodeling projects that we had just finished.  I firmly said no.  She was obviously deaf because she continued to try to walk past me.  I once had a man stop and ask if something in my yard was for sale.  There was no for sale sign, so I'm not sure what made him think it was for sale.  Then he tried to talk me into selling it to him.  UM NO.   I've had people stop and ask for directions.  AT 8AM!  One time during the election in our town I had someone campaigning for city council knocking at my front door at the very same time there was someone running for another office knocking on my back door.  I could go on and on.

So.
Unless you are coming to clean my house and do all of my laundry,
please do not come to my house before noon.

Thank you.

Partying here today:

  4. My children are not allowed to talk to me before my second cup of coffee. Or 10 a.m. Whichever comes first. Maybe I should make that 11 a.m., actually...

Visiting you for the first time today from the MTM Mixer, and I look forward to exploring your space. Jane @nothingbtbook

  7. I have to laugh, I am the same way when I have days off. But I am a teacher, and there is no hiding from the students till lunchtime, so most of the time I just have to smile and be a morning person haha!
